With hundreds of songs in our collection of contemporary hymns, progress on Emma's Hymns recently reached a milestone in the process of preparing a significant number for publication.

In Emma Smith's day, the hymnbook was printed without sheet music. It was just the lyrics. One reason for this can be better understood by realizing the amount of specialized talent it requires to print sheet music on an old fashioned printing press. Instead of setting type, it requires carving intricate printing plates with hand tools.
